James
Weil has always considered himself an artist and has
been painting since he was a teenager, but for twenty-six years,
painting came in second place to serving his country in the Navy.
Now retired, he can devote himself to painting full time.
James
works mostly in oil and watercolor. His favorite subjects are
landscapes, particularly Yosemite Valley, and lighthouses. His
career in the Navy expanded his horizons, both literally and
artistically. As he moved from one duty station to another, he
was exposed to new and varied landscapes. The frequent moves
also allowed him to attend a variety of art schools including
the Columbus College of Art and Design and the Academy of Arts
College in San Francisco.
He
has won numerous awards and honors for his work and has exhibited
in both New York and California.
