Downstairs Gallery: Terry Mangen One Woman Show

Terry Mangan is originally from Buffalo where she studied at the Albright-Knox School of Art. Terry moved with her husband Brit to Virginia where she continued her artistic education, becoming a teacher of watercolor and oil and taking part in numerous exhibitions and winning a number of awards. She moved back to New York in 2002 where she has continued to successfully exhibit and win awards. Her work can be found in private collections up and down the East Coast.

Terry paints in the realistic style. She paints a variety of subjects but her favorite is nature, which continues to inspire her. "I love to paint God’s word," she says, "so others can enjoy what I see. Art is everywhere if you look for it."

"Many people disregard realism as too photogenic," says Sally Bisher, Associate Director of the Market Street Art Center, "but it is one of the most difficult of artistic styles to accomplish. Line, perspective, hue... everything... has to come together just right for it to work. Terry Mangan has that ability."

There was an opening reception on Saturday, September 20th.

Gallery space is available to rent for artist shows or community exhibitions.
