Don Little, originally from Canada but now residing in Lockport, mentored under his uncle, the late L.V. Badgery, a student of the famed Canadian Group of Seven. The Group of Seven developed a bold and spontaneous style, now known at the Canadian Tradition, that mixes Impressionism with Expressionism.
“Landscape painting is a solitary activity,” says Little. “My need for inspiration can only be found in the field, outdoors in the elements and light. Having been trained in the Canadian Tradition of landscape painting, my works of nature involve a search for the elusive, perfect balance of line, color and composition in the enormity and shifting complexity of nature. I have, however, attempted to record not only the obvious but also to imply the intangible elements of wind, motion and space in the pictorial scheme through the use of abstracted techniques.”

Little has been a docent at the Albright Knox Art Gallery and has taught art at Niagara County Community College and other venues. He recently gave a series of lectures on art history at the Market Street Art Center. He is a Signature member of the Niagara Frontier Watercolor Society and has exhibited in numerous art galleries and museums including the Kenan Center and the Albright Knox Art Gallery.
