“Life and Still Life” is an exhibition of the works of Patricia Sciandra, who works mostly in oils and pastels. A graduate of SUNY at Buffalo, Sciandra has studied painting under several noted art teachers including George Palmer, Albert Handell and Roberta Remy and she has gone on to teach art herself.
She has exhibited in many local shows as well as in New Orleans, Albuquerque, New Mexico and Tampa, Florida. She is a member of the Buffalo Society of Artists, the Degas Pastel Society and the Western New York Artists Group. She is currently working on a book on artists and the choices they make in their work.
“Being people oriented,” says Sciandra, “most of my work concerns, or is related to, people. Even my still life paintings are of objects that have significance to me and frequently relate to specific people. Although I do landscapes, they most often have some indication of human presence within them such as a barn or fence rather than just scenery.”
