March
14 – April 11, 2009 Triple Opening Reception for all shows was held on March 14. The Winery at Marjim Manor hosted a wine tasting. UPDATE: The opening reception for the three exhibitions drew over 350 people. In the Downstairs Gallery the Small Painting Society of Western New York held its debut show. In a departure from normal judging practices patrons were asked to vote for their favorite piece in the show. “Almost everyone got some votes,” said Sally Bisher, Associate Director of the Art Center, “but the overwhelming favorite was ‘Sunset from Day Road’ a watercolor by Jeffrey Watkins.” In the Upstairs Gallery Amanda Tomasikiewicz, a recent graduate of Alfred University who is studying to become a medical illustrator presented “Phenomena,” her pen and ink renderings of insects and nature. The Third Gallery presented the LHS Art Student’s End of Year Show. | ||
