Joe
has been an active supporter of the growth of art in our area. He
instituted the artists’ group known as “The Third
Thursday Group,” a group of local and regional artists
gathering once a month for unstructured discussions exchanging
ideas and information. He has also begun a mentoring program
for promising young students.
His
interest in art began at early age. He studied
under Sister Julia at St. Joseph’s Academy and later
under well-known painter and teacher William Storrs. He
has a Fine Arts Degree from Niagara County Community College
and currently works as a design engineer for Praxair, Inc.
He is noted for his watercolors of historic old Lockport
and he also does commissioned work of individual homes.
“Joe
is an invaluable asset both to Market Street Art Center and
to the local art scene.” says Sally Bisher,
the center director. “His enthusiasm and commitment
to the belief that art is for everyone, has had a very positive
effect on the success of the center. I couldn’t be
more pleased that he has accepted this position.”
